SLEET or snow showers are set to return to York and North Yorkshire in the coming week on bitterly cold winds.
The Met Office says that after early showers tomorrow, there will be sunny spells but winds with strengthen later with heavy showers, which will turn increasingly wintry across the hills.
It will be cold and breezy, with sunshine and wintry showers, on Tuesday and Wednesday, with snow accumulations likely across the hills.
Very strong winds are expected early on Thursday, with a risk of rain and snow.
Next weekend looks set to be sunnier, but with temperatures only reaching 3C in York by Sunday.
