A HOUSE builder has donated the furniture from one of its show homes to help families in need.

David Wilson Homes gave the items from its Barley Fields show home in Barlby to York-based Peasholme Charity to help a number of families setting up home.

This included two sofas, a dining table with six chairs and three double beds, along with a lounge chair, a small easy chair and two wicker side tables.

Peasholme Charity works with disadvantaged people to help them get back on their feet, including those who are homeless, or at risk of losing their homes in the York area.

Yvonne Morrissey, Peasholme charity manager, said: “We were over the moon when David Wilson Homes reached out to us to donate a variety of fantastic furniture items. It’s such a heart-warming gesture and has made so many people very happy.”

Linzi Bentley, sales manager at Barley Fields, said: “Following the successful sale of our David Wilson Homes properties on site, we’re delighted to be able to give our lovely show home furniture to such a worthy cause in the local area. We are always looking for ways in which we can support the local community, and we are so pleased that our donation will make a real difference.”
