A LICENSED private hire taxi driver has been ordered to pay more than £1,200 in fines, costs and charges for failing to display vehicle licence plates on the rear of his vehicle.
Sewanu Akojenu, 42, of Hornbeam Close, Selby, pleaded guilty at York Magistrates Court for failing to display rear licence plates on four separate occasions on his private hire vehicle in October 2017.
Mr Akojenu was fined a total of £600, ordered to pay a surcharge of £60 and the council’s costs of £562.50, making a total of £1222.50.
After the hearing, Selby District Council said all taxi drivers must display their licence plates on their hire vehicles.
