EXTRA black bin collections will start for residents in York from Monday.
Every household in the city will get a black bin or sack collection next week and after Christmas, as City of York Council has reorganised collections to help manage extra waste over the festive period.
Residents should put their black bins out on their usual black bin collection day next week, and with no normal collections over Christmas week, residents should check which week their recycling collections are due.
Bins which would be collected on New Year's Day will instead be collected on Friday, December 29.
Between Monday 18 and Friday 22 December, black bins and recycling will be collected as normal.
There will be no bin collections between Monday 25 and Friday 29 December, and all collections due on Monday, January 1 will be collected on Friday, December 29, including the extra black bin collection.
Between Tuesday 2 and Friday 5 January, black bin and recycling collections will return to normal.
Councillor Andrew Waller, interim deputy leader and executive member for waste, said: "Iād like to wish everyone a happy Christmas, and remind them to check their calendars, our website and household waste centres to see just how much ā from trees to wrapping paper ā can be recycled."
Residents can check their collection days online at york.gov.uk/refuselookup
