A YORK church is celebrating the 50th anniversary of its hall tomorrow - and wants to invite along dozens of people who had bricks dedicated in their names when it was built.
Lidgett Methodist Church in Wheatlands Grove, Acomb, was built 82 years ago but the church hall was only completed in 1967, said church member Anna Harrison.
“A number of children had bricks dedicated in their name, and we’re trying to trace them to invite them to our anniversary celebrations,” she said.
“The service is at 10.30am, followed by a celebration lunch, but people are also invited to come along to our community café any Wednesday between 9.30 and 11.30am.”
She said the children laid bricks - or had bricks laid on their behalf - during a stone-laying ceremony on April 15, 1967, with many bricks also laid by adults.
