BREAST cancer survivor Nicola Gant and husband Andy are dancing for joy after raising more than £1,000 for charity.
Qualified dance teacher Andy and Nicola, York branch director of homecare service Bluebird Care, made the money by holding their second Come Dancing event in aid of York Against Cancer.
Almost 100 people went along to Melodie Park, Wigginton Road, enjoying a jive lesson before taking to the floor.
A raffle boosted funds, as did an auction of signed photos from stars of TV’s Strictly Come Dancing.
Nicola and Andy raised £1,002, comfortably beating the £725 they made at their inaugural event last year.
“We were really pleased with how the evening went,” Nicola said. “We had people wanting to buy tickets right up to the day of the dance, so it was very popular.” Bluebird Care (York) has raised thousands for good causes over the years.
