STEVE Shanyaski tops the Laugh Out Loud Comedy Club bill on Friday at The Basement, City Screen, York, joined by Emmanuel Sonubi, Marvyn Dickinson and host Damion Larkin.

"Steve thrilled millions on ITV’s Jason Manford’s Comedy Rocks and the young Mancunian has been charming crowds with his mix of gags and songs for long enough to become one of the most sought-after acts in the country," says Larkin.

"He's been described as a cross between Eddie Izzard and Peter Kay…with a guitar, and as there's more TV work on the way, catch him while you can. He's a very charismatic and silly performer with a natural talent for storytelling, never failing to entertain."

Shanyaski walked out on a mind-numbing office job straight on to a comedy stage in 2003 and has not looked back since. Within six months, he made the semi-finals of the BBC New Comedian of the Year and the North West Comedian of the Year final, and later that year he appeared on the BBC7 radio showcase Spanking New.

Emmanuel Sonubi has played the Best in Stand Up showcase at The Comedy Store in London; Marvyn Dickinson is the star of the BBC’s BAFTA-nominated DNN and was the Nando’s New Comedian of the Year in 2014; master of ceremonies Larkin will be improvising his set as ever.

Tickets cost £17 on 0871 902 5726, at thebasementyork.co.uk or in person from City Screen or £20 on the door from 7.30pm for the 8pm start.
