A YORK councillor has slammed plans by Highways England to spend £700,000 on improvements to the Grimston Bar roundabout at the junction of the A64 and A1079.

Osbaldwick and Derwent councillor Mark Warters claimed that the work, involving resurfacing the roundabout and footpaths and upgrading the traffic signals, will cause ‘weeks and weeks of disruption.’

He claimed: “The best way of getting traffic to flow at this location is to turn the traffic lights off and not ‘upgrade’ them yet again.’
