AN EXHIBITION celebrating artwork of animals will be opened by the Lord Mayor of York in the city next month.
'All creatures…' features paintings of animals including birds, dogs, cats, horses, pigs, cows, grouse, pheasants and fish, and runs at Kentmere House Gallery in Scarcroft Hill from November 22, and will be opened by Councillor Barbara Boyce.
Tickets for the opening event, at 7pm on November 22, cost £6 and all profits will go to the Lord Mayor’s charities – Keep Your Pet, Hearing Dogs For Deaf People, and Refugee Action York.
Ann Petherick, owner of the gallery, said there would be more than 50 paintings and prints, with prices ranging from £50 to £2,000. A percentage of sales will also be donated to the charities, and a selection of cards by gallery artists will be on sale with proceeds going to Keep Your Pet. The exhibition continues until January 7, 2018.
