YORK’S most famous street was transformed in to a sea of orange to celebrate a special anniversary.
City attraction, York Chocolate Story, used 1,000 orange balls to fill Shambles with symbols of Terry’s most famous product, the Chocolate Orange to mark a dual celebration - 250 years of the confectioners which started out in the city in 1767 and National Chocolate Week which runs until Sunday.
Andy Turner, York’s Chocolate Story’s General Manager said: “We wanted to do something really magnificent to celebrate 250 Years of Terry’s and National Chocolate Week, in the UK’s home of chocolate.”
Ben Rosenfield, PR executive, said: “You get a great sense that this is something special. The response has been overwhelmingly positive.”
Throughout the day today staff from the attraction gave the balloons away to people walking down Shambles.
