A CYCLIST who was injured in a colision with a car in North Yorkshire last week has died in hospital.

North Yorkshire Police said the 56-year-old female cyclist involved in the accident, which happened at 9.15am on the A168 in Thornton-le-Street, Thirsk, last Tuesday, died at James Cook Hospital in Middlesbrough.

"We are not in a position to name her at this time," said a spokeswoman.

She said oficers were renewing their appeal for witnesses and dash-cam footage to assist their investigation into the accident, in which the cyclist collided with a silver Nissan Micra.

"In particular, they are appealing for the drivers of two vehicles which overtook the cyclist prior to the collision to come forward."
