THIS Saturday York Explore is celebrating 90 years of the iconic Walter Brierley designed public library.
It was opened on September 23, 1927 and this Saturday will see a day of celebration.
The building in which York Explore Library and Archive still calls home was open to the public to spark knowledge and ideas for everyone.
To celebrate there will be a day of fun, discovery and creativity, are using everything that the building has seen in the last decades to delve into the future of York’s library service.
The public can join in between 11am and 4pm on Saturday for a day filled with activities including crafts, digimaking, Code Club taster sessions, artists and poets, live music, hands-on archive artifacts and bulb planting.
All of the sessions will be run on a first come basis and are designed for the whole family to get involved in learning and creating. There will be more opportunities to get involved at a later date.
