SEVERAL community groups got together to show what Castle Car Park could be like if cars were banned.

For two hours, they turned four parking spaces into a pop-up park as part of international Park(ing) day.

Kate Lock of York community group Glass Half Full said: “It was a team effort and went really well - loads of people stopped by. People joined us for a chat, to drink tea and eat vegan flapjacks, to learn juggling with Professor Fiddlesticks or to work with wool with Mary Passeri or to have a shoulder massage with June Tranmer of the Healing Clinic.

“All the conversations were positive, pleasant and constructive and there was a lot of interest in re-envisaging how the space might be used,

“We hope this can feed into other discussions and consultations going on about York’s development. It definitely caught people’s imaginations.”
