A GROUP of deaf people from all over the UK enjoyed a sightseeing cruise along the River Ouse.

City Cruises York hosted a group of 35 deaf passengers on Saturday.

The team arranged for British sign language interpreter, Matt Dixon, to receive a copy of the sightseeing commentary in advance of the cruise, which he conveyed to the group during the sailing. The Deaf Man Vlog UK (DMVUK) group, which originated on Facebook, also visited York Brewery and attended a fundraising event in the evening for local group Jorvik Deaf Connections. Mark Mattinson, sales and marketing manager for City Cruises York, said: “We are always looking for ways in which we can make our cruises more accessible to all passengers and hope to be able to continue this in the future.”
