A MAN has been arrested after he was stopped by police but then drove off and crashed into an officer's van.
Police received a call on Sunday about a Transit van acting suspiciously on the A171, and it was found and stopped near Burniston, close to Scarborough.
PC Liam Cromack, of North Yorkshire Police, tweeted: "Before I could conclude checks, the driver decided he wasn't going to hang around & drove off, colliding with my police van.
"Unsurprisingly, he had no licence or insurance."
The driver and the passenger were arrested and charged with theft and threatening behaviour, PC Cromack added.
He said the driver was also charged with obstructing police, for giving a false name, and driving offences.
