A COMPETITION to help spirited youngsters give something back to their communities over the summer has come to an end.

North Yorkshire Police encouraged young people to do something different during the school holidays and come up with a project to benefit others as part of their Lifestyle Challenges scheme.

Activities included entertaining residents and visitors at Moors Care Centre with dancing, singing and games to alleviate loneliness.

Other events included creating fairy door hunts at Burton Riggs Nature Reserve and volunteering at Sure Start Children’s Centre in Clifton, as well as pot washing and cleaning up graffiti.

Children have worked on their project all summer, recording all they do in a log book provided by the police, but this has now ended and log books must be submitted by September 24.

The log books will be judged and prizes handed out at a ceremony in November.

Logbooks should be posted to Lifestyle Office, Partnership Hub, North Yorkshire Police, I ‘Anson Road, Richmond, DL10 4ND. Alternatively they can handed in at your local police station.
