A CONSULTATION is being launched on rerouting a key east- west road that was shut for two months last year, because of landslips.
North Yorkshrie County Council (NYCC) is looking at moving the A59 at Kex Gill, and is launching the consultation to hear people's views about the four possible new routes.
The A59 is an important trans-Pennine route between Skipton and Harrogate, council bosses say, but has a long history of instability and movement of the land above the road west of Blubberhouses at Kex Gill.
In January 2016 it had to be closed for eight weeks, and realiging the road is part of NYCC strategic transport plan
An initial list 16 possible routes has been whittled down to four, and the council wants to hear views before it bids to the Department for Transport for the £33 million to £40 million the project will cost.
Public meetings are planned, including one at St Peter's Church, Harrogate, on Friday, September 22 from 10am to 2pm and 3pm to 8pm.
