DANCE It Up North will serve a rich feast of different dance styles and genres for a show at York Theatre Royal on September 13.

Performers of all ages and levels of experience from community groups and children's dance academies will work with professional dance artists.

A special feature will be professional choreographers working with groups of enthusiast dancers to makedance especially for the evening. The connecting theme is to celebrate the great talent and energy for dance in York and North Yorkshire.

Among those taking part are: Chilli Bon Bon from Brunswick Social Club, Phoenix Dance Youth Academy, students from York St John BA Hons Dance degree course, Zoobin Surty Bollywood Dancers, York Dance Space and York Theatre Royal community group.

Hannah Robertshaw, programmes director of Yorkshire Dance, said: “We’re delighted to support the work of the York and North Yorkshire Dance Hub and it’s fantastic to have the opportunity to bring professional and community dance together on the same stage.

“There are so many people living and working in York and North Yorkshire who are committed to developing a really thriving dance scene, and we hope this is just the first of many events which celebrate their energy and enthusiasm for dance.”
