THOUSANDS of racegoers dressed in their finest and flocked to York Racecourse for the second day of the Ebor Festival.

Fascinators, hats and heels were the order of the style-conscious Ladies’ Day meeting today which was attended by more than 20,000 people.

Best dressed title went to Simmone Cowes, 20, from Escrick.

“It has been, quite rightly, all about the ladies on the track and off the track,” said York Racecourse spokesman James Brennan.

A highlight for spectators was Enable, ridden by Frankie Dettori, winning The Darley Yorkshire Oaks.

“The crowd got a flying descent for the second time in two days which always gets a big cheer,” added James.
