HEALTH bosses in North Yorkshire are hoping to launch a dedicated mental health service for pregnant woman and new mums.
Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) covering Vale of York, Scarborough and Ryedale, Hambleton, Richmondshire and Whitby, and Harrogate and rural district will be submitting a joint bid for funding later this summer.
Before then, the CCGs want to hear the thoughts of pregnant women and new mothers – as well as partners – to help shape the new service.
A survey is open until Thursday, August 31 and is at www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/LNQRTXB.
Scarborough and Ryedale CCG's Dr Peter Billingsley said: “Many women feel more vulnerable and anxious during pregnancy and after the birth and for some it can trigger more serious mental health problems.
“To improve the health and wellbeing of our children, it is so important for them to have the best possible start in life and preserving maternal mental and physical wellbeing is the best beginning."
