TICKETS are still available to York's Big City Read events that see some of the country's best crime writers head to the city's libraries.
Authors like Val McDermid, Cath Staincliffe, AD Garrett, Alison Weir, Sophie Hannah, Kate Ellis, Mark Billingham and Chris Brookmyre are all heading to York to talk about their work.
The first event, on Thursday, August 31, will see Val McDermid talk about her latest novel Insidious Intent at York Explore.
Other talks will follow throughout the autumn.
Explore York libraries across the city are also giving away Big City Read brochures, and organisers say the resources are flying off the shelves.
This year's chosen book is Helen Cadbury’s To Catch a Rabbit, and although the author died earlier this year York library staff say they knew she was "proud and excited" to have been chosen.
"This year’s Big City Read of To Catch a Rabbit will be a celebration of her work and of crime reading and writing," they said.
The organisation will be giving out 5,000 free copies of To Catch a Rabbit in the libraries and at special pop-up events after our launch event on September 14.
Copies of the brochure can be downloaded from www.exploreyork.org.uk/bigcityread, and events can be booked online or at libraries.
