A 90-YEAR-OLD woman from Selby has taken to the skies to raise money for charity and celebrate her birthday.
Alice Roddie turned 90 last week, and on Saturday flew in a glider - piloted by her grandson - high above her home town, and raised more than £1,500 for Arthritis Research.
The charity is close to her heart, as Alice and her granddaughters all suffer from the condition.
Alice said: "It was lovely. I was pointing to all the beautiful countryside and places and streams. It was excellent, it really was.
"Up to now, we've raised more than £1,500, I thought if we could raise £500 we would do well, I never realised how generous people were."
