The Press Camera Club

ARE you enjoying the summer holidays? Our Press Camera Club members clearly are – they are posting lots of great images from their travels around the city and further afield.

Top marks to Matthew Fawcett, not only for his atmospheric photo of Shambles, but for capturing this busy thoroughfare when no one is around – a feat in itself!

And thanks to Mike Barratt for a photo which brought a smile to our faces – whose heart hasn't sunk when their ice-cream has tumbled on to the floor into a melting pile. Mike has managed to rescue the situation with his artistic eye.

Flowers are favourite subjects among Camera Club members, and we like how Jonathan Allison has managed to sneak in York's best known landmark in the background too.

Thanks to Nick Fletcher, Mandy Dean and Joy Stead too, for their snaps from slightly further afield, and to Gray Cooper for the beautiful flower shot from Poppleton Road allotments.

Do keep your images coming in. More than 320 readers have joined The Press Camera Club since our launch just seven weeks ago.

Joining is free – just search for "The Press Camera Club" on Facebook. Members can swap tips and take part in upcoming competitions.

Every day we will be featuring pictures from club members in The Press and a selection online at thepress.co.uk.
