VINTAGE motorcycles from the “golden era”take centre stage at the Yorkshire Air Museum at Elvington, near York, tomorrow.

Organised by the North East Section of the Vintage Motorcycle Club, the nostalgic gathering is open only to pre 1931 motorcycles.

"Of the 58 incredible machines entered this year, 17 were built between 1910 and 1917, making them over 100 years old," said a museum spokesman.

"One of the early machines is a 1914 Douglas 2 & ¾ HP 349cc entered by Christopher Habgood and bought by his father in 1929."
