WITH reference to Maurice Vassie’s letter (The Press, July 20), my vote to leave the EU was not based on emotion, it was based on the fact that I wanted to be governed by the government that was voted in by the electorate of the UK, not by some non-elected officials in another country.

Officials who tell me what I can grow in my garden, what fertilisers I can use and what food I can eat.

These are the same officials who preach climate change and then once a month move their staff and papers in a fleet of lorries and cars from one country to another.

At the present time they are wanting to spend millions on a new headquarters in Brussels yet still retain the one in Strasbourg.

Why not modernise one and close the other, thus saving on transfer costs once a month?

They also use the human rights law to prevent us deporting criminals back to where they came from after they have committed a crime in the UK. What about the human rights of the victims?

They seem to spend money as if there was no tomorrow and yet for over 20 years their books have been audited but not signed off because of money that cannot be accounted for.

If a private business did this they would be held accountable and probably face criminal charges for fraud.

Is there any wonder that the majority of voters in the UK used their democratic right and voted out?
