ON behalf of everyone at St Leonard’s Hospice, I would like to say a massive thank you to everyone involved with Saturday’s Midnight Walk, who joined us in glowing for St Leonard’s.

More than 1,000 people, including walkers, staff and volunteers, were on site at York College in a Day-Glo spectacular.

Harry Gration and our wonderful team of Hospice@Home nurses cut the neon ribbon and set our walkers off into the darkness for a fantastic night of fundraising fun.

Once again we had the fantastic support of York College who not only provided a venue but a team of walkers.

How could we forget the highlight of the night, the all-important bacon butty cooked by Kent of K S Catering and a team of hardworking volunteers?

Thank you to our friends from Devine Butchers, Ged Bell Butchers, J H Piercy, M&K Butchers, Butchers Block, Wilson’s of York, Whites Bakery, Countrywise, Morrison’s Foss Island and Tesco Askham Bar for keeping us fed and watered.

A big shout out has to go to our team of volunteers, staff and marshals, including the York Inset Scooter Club, who worked tirelessly to keep all our walkers safe and enthused around the 6.5-mile route.

The biggest thank you of all has to go to our walkers and supporters.

We are hoping to raise over £60,000 from this event which could fund one of our amazing nurses for several years.

See you again next year.
