CAN Britain survive any more political chaos?

Theresa May’s calling of a General Election has been an unmitigated disaster.

She has spectacularly failed to capture more seats for the upcoming Brexit talks.

Her manifesto offered no hope for years while we see bosses paid millions.

She never looked comfortable or confident.

She appears to have a personality bypass – not ideal for a leader.

On the BBC debate in York she offered no answer to the nurse who explained she was worse off now than nine years ago.

On the other hand Jeremy Corbyn got better and better as the election progressed.

He offered families and young people hope and was seen to relish and enjoy the election – pulling in the crowds.

How relieved our York MPs Rachael Maskell and Julian Sturdy must be in retaining their seats.

I have covered many elections but this one is the worst in my memory. Boring.

May’s advisors put a protective iron curtain around her. Why?

She was never seen to engage directly – only in a controlled company setting where the staff could only listen. She bottled out of TV debates.

A General Election is all about rough and tumble and spontaneity and dealing with the unexpected. Margaret Thatcher got stuck in.

Will the Conservatives keep Theresa May as leader now as she is seriously weakened?

A day is now a long time in politics.
