A MAN has been arrested on drug, knife and poison charged after a man was found in critical condition in a York street.
The 44-year-old man was found unconscious on the corner of Micklegate and George Hudson Street, outside the Nisbets catering supply shop, at about 4.20am on Thursday.
North Yorkshire Police placed a cordon outside the shop and part of the pavement throughout the day, where investigations took place to determine the circumstances around the incident.
On Friday morning, police confirmed a 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident.
A spokeswoman said he was arrested on suspicion of possession and supplying heroin, possession of a knife in a public place, and "administering poison with intent to endanger life/inflict grievous bodily harm".
She said the 22-year-old has since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
Staff from the shop refused to comment on the issue, but said they had been unable to open on Thursday as a result of the police incident.
