THE number of people claiming out of work benefits in York has peaked to its highest monthly figure since February 2016.
Latest statistics show the number of people claiming out of work benefits in the city in April stood at 1,035, representing 0.8 per cent of York’s working population.
The figure was 10 higher than in March, and the highest since February 2016 when it stood at 1,075.
Figures for North Yorkshire stand at 5,185, representing 1.4 per cent.
