ALMOST all outpatient clinics at hospitals across North Yorkshire will go ahead today.

Following the international cyber attack which crippled parts of NHS systems on Friday, services are beginning to return to normal, with patients being warned to expect delays as the recovery process continues, and asked to be patient with staff.

All outpatient clinics at York Hospital, Scarborough Hospital, Malton Hospital, Bridlington Hospital and Selby Hospital will go ahead today.

However, DEXA (bone scan) at Scarborough Hospital will not go ahead.

Sleep service appointments for new patients at both York Hospital and Scarborough Hospital are now running, but appointments for existing patients will be rescheduled.

The North Yorkshire Breast Screening Service is also suspended in Catterick, Helmsley, Pickering, Malton and Clarence Street, York, but other breast appointments are unaffected.

A spokeswoman for York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust said: “We have worked hard to restore our IT systems since the attack last Friday, and it is a significantly improved picture across our hospitals and community services.

“Planned operations are also going ahead as scheduled; however a small number are being rescheduled at York Hospital due to operational pressures. This is not as a direct result of the cyber attack. We will ensure that we reschedule any cancelled appointments as soon as possible.”

The spokeswoman said the situation would be reviewed daily and information will be shared regarding any cancellations to appointments and services later in the week.

The National Crime Agency urged all computer users to be extra vigilant online following the WannaCry ransomware attacks, which crippled NHS systems around the region on Friday.
