A FORMER North Yorkshire student who now works at Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant in Mayfair, is up for a major award.

Kurtus Auty, 19, who studied at Selby College, has been shortlisted for a City & Guilds Lion Award next month.

Kurtus, who also went to Brayton High School, has previously won the Medal for Excellence, and has reached the shortlist for the 2017 People’s Choice Award, going head to head with more than 85 national and international medal winners for the top prize.

The young chef took a Level 1 and Level 2 diploma in professional cookery at Selby College while working part-time as a commis chef at The Fat Abbot in Escrick, and now works in Gordon Ramsay’s Maze. He was also finalist in Young Seafood Chef of the Year and the titles of Yorkshire’s Best Young Chef at the Golden Apron and York Food & Drink Junior Chef.
