POLICE are still investigating an assault which happened in York on Friday.

A 20-year-old man was left with injuries on his face and back after the attack, which happened near the Costcutter shop in Chapelfields Road between 5pm and 5.33pm on Friday, April 28.

Three local men were arrested on suspicion of assaulting him.

Police confirmed yesterday that one man, aged 25, had been released and faced no further action.

A 36-year-old man was released on bail while enquiries continue, and a 35-year-old man was released under investigation.

A police spokesman said the alleged victim was also arrested on suspicion of assaulting a 36-year-old woman. Both were taken to hospital but their injuries were not thought to be serious.

He was later released on bail, while investigations continue.
