A MAJOR road in York has reopened early following repairs to a water main.
Gillygate was closed on Monday, April 24, with motorists and buses being forced to take a lengthy diversion for up to two weeks.
However, reports from local residents on Sunday night suggested workmen had made quicker progress than expected.
This morning it was confirmed the road had reopened, and bus services were back to normal.
#Gillygate works finished early and the road is open. Service 1, 5 and 6 back to normal route from today. Have a great #bankholiday.

The road was not officially due to reopen until Monday, May 8.
