PUPILS and staff at an independent school in East Yorkshire took part in a fun-packed charity week and raised £3,000 for good causes.

Events held during the lively and busy few days at Pocklington School included auctions for the privilege of deluging brave staff volunteers with gunge, and for the services of sixth formers who dressed up as Minions for the day.

Teams of five competed in tug of war competitions, staff took on pupils in five-a-side football matches and there was a giant game of musical chairs.

The lower and upper school fairs had many popular stalls organised by the pupils themselves, with buns and cakes, fluffy pig racing games, tombolas and lucky dips. The school also held a non-uniform day.

The charity week was organised by the school Sixth Form Charity Committee and supervised by head of ICT and computing and sixth form housemistress, Helen Alexander.

This year the total funds raised has been shared by four charities - the World Land Trust, which works to save threatened habitats, the British Red Cross, Dove House Hospice and Harare Children’s Hospital.
