YORK-BASED Coalters are celebrating their milestone 10th birthday with a year of fundraising aimed at making £10,000 for three local charities.

Staff have chosen the York Hospital Special Care Baby Unit, York Against Cancer and SASH to support through their fundraising efforts.

The local agent will donate £10 for each of their For Sale or To Let boards placed around the York area for the first three months of their charity challenge.

Staff are also planning fundraising events to take place throughout the year, with ideas including taking part in Tough Mudder, a cake sale and a cycling challenge.

They are also hoping to be selected to take part in the Micklegate Run in partnership with Millthorpe School.

The Coalters team have raised more than £12,000 in the last five years, with charities supported including St Leonard's Hospice, York Hospital Paediatric Department and Cancer Research UK.

Reuben Barrett, managing director at Coalters, said: “The whole team are really excited about raising money for our three chosen charities.

"It’s a great way to celebrate the last 10 years and give back to the community that has supported us for a decade.

"It’s an exciting time for Coalters as we continue to grow whilst offering customer service excellence for York homeowners and landlords.”

Debra Miles, sister and chairperson of York Special Care Baby Unit, said: “On behalf of York Special Care Baby Unit Support Group, may I congratulate Coalters on their 10th anniversary and wish them a very happy birthday and continued success.

"We are absolutely thrilled to have the support from a local business such as Coalters. Thank you for choosing our small York charity who has strived to give practical and emotional support to our babies and their families over the past 33 years.

"The donations that we receive make such a difference to the care we can provide on York SCBU."

Julie Russell, general manager from York Against Cancer, said: “It’s so great that Coalters have thought of raising money for us in their tenth anniversary year, and it couldn’t come at a better time as we ourselves are celebrating our 30th anniversary.

"All the cash raised will go towards helping local people combat cancer."

Emma Bracegirdle, community fundraiser from SASH, said: “We are delighted to have the support of Coalters for our work helping to prevent youth homelessness.

"Our approach relies heavily on involvement from the communities in which we work, both for volunteers and for income.

"It is always great news when a local business decides to help and we are very grateful to the staff at Coalters for choosing SASH."
