DOZENS of volunteers from fast food restaurants across York took part in a series of clean-up events in the city.
McDonald’s Franchisee John Atherton, area manager Craig Dilnot and more than 45 volunteers from the Monks Cross, Poppleton and Clifton Moor McDonald’s restaurants worked together in support of the national Great British Spring Clean campaign, and collected 78 bags of rubbish. The workers also teamed up with eight volunteers from the Clarence Park Bowling Team and nine volunteers from a local church group to clean the area around Clarence Gardens, planting 500 new bedding plants and grass over two days, improving the view from York Hospital. Mr Atherton said: “The Great British Spring Clean has inspired people to volunteer their time to get outdoors and pick up some of the litter that surrounds and blights the areas we live. We were delighted to participate and happy to do our bit to make York a cleaner place to live. I was very proud of the efforts my staff made over the weekend and would like to thank them all.”
