PLANS to open an Ivy Collection brasserie in York have been met with little support from Press readers.
Yesterday, The Press reported Troia UK Restaurants has submitted a licence application to City of York Council for 2 St Helen’s Square to open an offshoot of the prestigious Ivy restaurant in London.
The property is currently occupied by outdoor clothing and equipment retailer Blacks.
In response, one person using the name 'mortified mortician' said: "Do we really need somewhere else to eat."
Another reader with the name 'isayitasitis' said: "Just what York needs. Another place to eat. No need for any upmarket shops like Leeds has."
A reader called 'Drago' added: "Will we ever get a men's clothes shop again? I don't mean these trendy fashion shops either."
Meanwhile, 'browbeaten' said: "Much needed. York is totally bereft of eateries oh and bars."
Yorky Porky also commented on the plans by saying: "Oh yes, let's have another new eatery in York. We haven't had one yet this week!"
