POLICE had to paws for thought when they received a phone call from a cat.
The feline managed to call the control room shortly after 7pm yesterday.
A spokeswoman from North Yorkshire Police said: "Police received a 999 call at around 7.10pm on Wednesday from a landline in the York area.
"The call was abandoned a short time later and member of staff called the number back to see if the caller required assistance. It was established a pet cat at the property had made the call in error."
The police team for York city centre tweeted: "Anybody else think he had reasonable claws to do so?"
