A GROUP of Girl Guides from York have become “Dementia Friends” joining a campaign to tackle the stigma and lack of understanding around the condition.
Girls from the 12th Holgate Methodist Guides went to a free information session run by local Dementia Friends Champions Claire Thompson and Maxine Kelly, to learn more about the condition and how to help people with dementia in their communities.
Claire said: “I was so pleased to see people showing their support for people with dementia, by coming along to the Session and becoming Dementia Friends. We need to create more communities and businesses that are dementia friendly so that people affected by dementia feel understood and included.”
