PLANS have come forward to build seven new homes on a small plot of land in Acomb.
A planning application has been submitted to City of York Council to put five flats and two bungalows on the land at 61a Gale Lane, in Westfield ward.
The application shows plans to demolish an existing bungalow and build a block of four one-bedroom and one two-bedroom flats, and two two-bedroom semi-detached bungalows to the rear. Developers say the site is in a sustainable location, as it has easy access to the city centre by public transport and it is also close to Acomb’s main street with shops and services. There are also four primary schools and one secondary school in easy reach, the documents add, and the plans include eight parking spaces.
The plot is close to Newbury Avenue, where the council itself is planning to build eight one-bedroomed bungalows on the site of garages backing on to Hob Moor.
