TRAIN drivers in charge of the doors? Never.
On a very crowded train, totally unable to get to my pre-booked seat, I was standing by the luggage racks.
The train stopped and people began to struggle past standing passengers in order to get off.
Alas, people just forced their way on. No-one could reach the doors, which just closed and the train began to move (to cries of alarm).
I shouted “stop the train, press the alarm button”. Was there one, I wondered?
Apparently there was. The train stopped, a guard appeared on the platform and the door reopened.
The guard had to ask people nearest the door to alight from the train so that people could reach their planned destination.
Need more be said?
Yes. I did call one gent who pushed his way on “a selfish pig” and he just grinned triumphantly.
