Historic York pub toasts anniversary with charity festival
ONE of York’s oldest pubs is marking its 600th birthday with a special event.
The Black Swan Inn, Peasholme Green, will host a weekend festival on April 29 and 30 in aid of the Lord Mayor of York’s charities.
The Lord Mayor’s Great Yorkshire Festival will include a talent contest, pie eating competition, Yorkshire Pudding making challenge, quiz, live music and an auction, with children’s events and food available.
Cllr Dave Taylor said he would be taking part in at least one of the challenges.
Entries for the contests - the talent show is for over-16s - can be submitted to the Black Swan in person or by emailing info@blackswanyork.com
