FAMILIES visiting Ryedale during April can enjoy a host of events taking place at various attractions.

As twilight descends between April 12 to 15, the ruins of Rievaulx Abbey will be transformed by Brocken Spectre, a unique sound and light phenomenon created by artist Charles Monkhouse.

On April 14, youngsters can Meet Scamp the Mole’s Fairy Friends at Scampston Hall near Malton, and enjoy a fun and fairy-filled day of story-telling, crafts, games and fairy cakes.

The National Bird of Prey Centre in Helmsley is hosting the British Falconry and Raptor Fair between April 30 and May 1, with displays, demonstrations and workshops by experts and bird lovers from across the country.

Castle Howard’s Easter Farm Fun event, from April 14 to 17, is a chance to meet some new farmyard friends in the pop-up petting farm.

Between April 16 and 17, families can help build a host of scarecrows for Nunnington Hall’s organic vegetable gardens and orchards, and create a mini scarecrow to take home. There are also fun family races, and a special Easter bonnet parade.
