YORK College has been given the green light to deliver new apprenticeships from May 1.
The college has been registered by the Skills Funding Agency as an approved apprenticeship training provider.
Assistant principal Nikki Davis said the new apprenticeships were ‘focused, flexible and employer led’, and would change the face of skills training in the UK.
A spokeswoman said the demand for apprenticeship training was clear: “At the recent York College Apprenticeship Showcase, held during National Apprenticeship Week, more than 400 prospective students were keen to find out more about the new training and talk to local employers about becoming an apprentice.”
She said anyone interested in becoming an apprentice could visit the college’s website for details while employers interested in taking one on could phone 01904 770368.
