THE Green Party has named its candidate for an up-coming council by-election in York.
Rosie Baker, who lives in Clementhorpe, will stand in Micklegate where a by-election has been triggered by the resignation of Cllr Julie Gunnell, who is standing down at the end of March.
If elected, Rosie would follow Lars Kramm to become the ward’s second Green councillor and the fifth on City of York Council. Rosie said she was particularly concerned about poor air quality in the ward - something she witnesses daily when walking her son to school. She added: “Julie has been a good ward councillor but this is a real opportunity for Micklegate given the way the vote swung towards Greens in 2015.”
