YOUNG York musicians are planning to stage an afternoon of great musical performances on Mother’s Day.

Players from York Music Forum will perform a ‘Spring Showcase’ concert at the Joseph Rowntree Theatre on Sunday March 26.

Stagecentre Concert Band, Tutti Amici Chamber Choir, Big Band and Jazz Orchestra will all be playing and singing in a spectacular musical celebration.

Director of York Music Service, Derek Warley, said: “The concert will feature something for everyone, from Beethoven to Miles Davis, and folk to funk.

“The talented young musicians involved are aged from nine to nineteen, and the quality of their playing and singing has to be heard to be believed.”

He said that since the forum began two years ago, it had gone from strength to strength, with the jazz orchestra recently picking up two top awards at the Great North Big Band Jazz Festival in Durham and forum performances at venues including the Royal Albert Hall.

Tickets for the Spring Showcase are available from the Joseph Rowntree Theatre box office.
