A YOUNG woman who told in The Press how she needed a third kidney transplant to get her life back on track says several people have responded to the story by deciding to join the organ donor register.

Karyn McColl, 27, of The Mount, suffered kidney failure as a child because of an auto-immune disease. She had transplants from both her father and stepmother which enabled her to enjoy years of healthy life before eventually failing, leaving her back on dialysis.

She appealed for more people to sign up to the donor register and, speaking after the story appeared, said that at least three people had told her it had helped them make a decision to do so.
