YORK Minster’s 128 stained glass windows include some of the finest medieval works of art in the world.

But craning your head to try to look up at them, it isn’t always easy to appreciate that.

A new book published today to mark the York Glaziers’ Trust’s 50th anniversary year aims to change that.

Stained Glass At York Minster, by the glaziers’ trust director Sarah Brown, takes a close look at some of the Minster’s most famous windows. More than 100 colour photographs enable you to see the windows in close detail.

Sarah’s accompanying text, meanwhile, follows the development of the Minster through the ages - telling the cathedral’s story through its glass.

“We hope it will add to the enjoyment and appreciation of the thousands of people who come to the Minster every year,” the author said.
