IT’S nice to note the boys in blue are once again trying to sort out the miscreants with their dodgy cycles (The Press, January 21), providing lights and fluorescent rucksack covers for their safer onward journey.

But are they telling them where to stick them?

Often you can see cyclists with their lights fixed to the nearside of their cycle, obscuring the light to passing vehicles.

Often good bright lights are hidden by bags or coats, or even set so low on the saddle post to be obscured by the mudguard.

And while the police and PCSOs are out and about after dark, they might look into the large number of vehicles driving after dark with faulty lighting, in itself creating just as much danger to cyclists and pedestrians as them not showing lights.
