A FUN run which involves a two-lap course past lions, tigers and lemurs will help support research into the conservation of wild animals and habitats.

Entry is now open for the third 10k FlaminGO! Run on Saturday, March 11. Money raised will go to CIRCLE, a University of York partnership with Flamingo Land and the Udzungwa Forest Project.

The course passes through the zoo, theme park and golf course.

Runners are asked to raise funds for the charity. They also get free zoo entry afterwards; those who raise more than £50 for CIRCLE will be invited to meet one of the animals.

“This is the third year that we have hosted the FlaminGO! Run and it has been a fantastic fund generator for a project very close to the hearts of the Flamingo Land team,” said Sarah Mills, director of Marketing Flamingo Land Resort Yorkshire.

“It is always an amazing atmosphere, packed with team spirit.

“Why not adopt our run as a personal challenge this new year and do something different for charity.

“Individuals, small groups of friends and family or running clubs are all warmly welcomed to take part and run past our wild animals as we work together to not only conserve and research threatened species, but also their habitats.”

The run starts at 10am and a discounted pre-booking fee is £13 for affiliated runners and £15 for non-affiliated. Runners can also register on on the day for £20 cash but must bring ID.
